What Does the Law Stipulate on Lunch Vouchers?
Lunch vouchers represent, according to Law 142/1998 regarding the grant of lunch vouchers, an "individual daily allowance for food". The amounts related to lunch vouchers are fiscally deductible and entirely exempted from the payment of taxes and duties on employers.

Starting with the rights of July, lunch vouchers will be taxed by the quota of 16% corresponding to the tax on salary income, which is payable by employees.

Government Emergency Ordinance No. 58 expressly provides under Article IV, items a) and b) the maintenance of all the other fiscal advantages related to lunch vouchers and vacation vouchers stipulated by Law 142/1998 regarding the grant of lunch vouchers.

Lunch vouchers continue to bring fiscal benefits to your company, as they are deductible upon calculation of the tax on profit (16%) and exempted from the payment of social and salary-related contributions (16.5%) and of social and employer-related contributions (minimum 28%).
